Ritual slaughter

The term ‘ritual slaughter’ has been criticised because it is associated in many peoples’ minds with ritual murder (i.e. human sacrifice to a deity) and such murder is widely felt to be unacceptable. By contrast, ‘religious slaughter’ appears more acceptable. It is linked with religious freedom and tolerance for other religions.
